No Turning Back

We have our tickets. We leave from Phoenix on my birthday. November 20 2014. A special present to my self. We are taking Silk and China. Can not leave them behind. We have arranged an almost direct flight to Guayaquil so that they will have the least amount of time in their kennel's. The plane will arrive at the unfortunate hour of 4am . A driver has been arranged  to transport two people, two cats, two suitcases, and 6 boxes of our worldly possessions to Cuenca where we have an apartment to live while we find a place to call our own.
Here in Tucson, it hardly looks as though we will be able to accomplish this moving task. Boxes everywhere in total disarray.. We have a plan, but one would hardly know it to look around at what looks like a hopeless situation. 5 weeks to go with 4 week-ends for garage sales. Just the two of us working our butts of to make our adventure happen. Not smooth going. I hope the end result will be worth it.
We continue to watch the real estate market in Cuenca, and  see very nice places to rent at very reasonable prices. So they do exist. We just do not know the area at all, so will have to wait until we arrive to discover our place. It will come together.

  1. And here I thought, having read your blog the first part of September, that we would have time to see you, say goodbye and wish you well in person.

Last night, in the middle of the night, I wondered if you had done any updates after the middle of September and sure enough. You have your tickets! You are on your way before we get to Tucson.

I am happy for you. Sherwin says, Good for Stanley!

But now we have to say goodbye like this! So amazing that you have fallen in love with such a far flung foreign country!

We will talk to you before you go.

Sherwin had a double hernia operation on October 1 so we have had to give up our idea of being there October 20. And then another business meeting reared it's ugly head and we have to stay into November for that, after which we will get serious about this business of heading south.

We expect to have Thanksgiving with our children in Canon Beach and then come south from that. But our plans have gone back and forth too so it is what it is.

You two truly are taking on a new world. Brave people!!
